Upcoming Opportunities for Youth

2026-05-08

Here are some opportunities for youth coming up this spring.

  • The Ontario Child and Youth Activism Project, which is part of the International and Canadian Child Rights Partnership (ICCRP). We are conducting a study with participants aged 13 years and older (including adults and seniors), and want to learn more about intergenerational experiences of discrimination within the GTA in health and education contexts. Our goal is to advance understanding of discrimination, which will make research, policies, and actions better. We will create research results like published papers and presentations for broad audiences. We are currently looking for research participants to take part in an online survey (lasting 15-30 minutes) to share their experiences of discrimination in health and educational contexts within the GTA. If participants would like to share more of their experiences after finishing the survey, they can also choose to participate in a virtual interview (lasting 60-90 minutes).

Participants must meet the following criteria:

✓ Are you aged 13 years and older?
    ✓ Have you experienced discrimination
✓ Do you have access to the internet and a quiet and secure space (either at home or in your community)?
✓ Do you live within the GTA?

Potential participants can email me at tara.collins@torontomu.ca, for more information. Or, they can learn how to participate and access the survey at the link here

  • One Child: We are currently recruiting youth facilitators for Shaking the Movers (STM), a national, child-rights based, youth-led workshop series that will bring young people together across Canada to share their perspectives and ideas on how Canada can better protect children from sexual exploitation online.  STM is a partnership between OneChild and the Landon Pearson Centre for the Study of Childhood and Children’s Rights at Carleton University.Youth facilitators will play a key role in leading play and arts-based activities within the workshops with other youth (including youth who have experienced sexual exploitation), support their peers, and help create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where participants feel comfortable sharing their views and ideas. Participants’ views will be heard by adult decision-makers across government, NGOs, academia, and the private sector, and will contribute to renewal of Canada’s National Strategy for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation on the Internet.

This is a meaningful opportunity for students who are interested in leadership, activism and online safety. Facilitators will receive a small payment/community service hours (whatever they prefer), leadership training, as well as reference letters for their participation.

We would greatly appreciate your support in sharing this opportunity with students who may be interested and well-suited for this role.
